Getting started
OT Fabric is a set of small, independent projects. Each protocol has the same shape:
| Layer | What it is | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Library | A pure Go client (and usually server) for the protocol | go-modbus |
| CLI | A command-line tool built on that library | modbusctl |
| Interop suite | Dockerized reference stacks the library is tested against | modbus-interop |
Shared transports such as go-serial, go-tpkt and go-cotp sit underneath, and go-otfp tells you which protocols a device speaks in the first place.
Pick your path
Section titled “Pick your path”Download the CLI for your protocol from its GitHub Releases page. Binaries are available for Linux (x86-64, ARM64, ARMv7), macOS and Windows, with SHA-256 checksums. No Go toolchain is needed.
# Example: what is this Modbus device?modbusctl client identify --ip 192.168.1.10 --server-idAdd the library to a Go module:
go get github.com/otfabric/go-modbusEach protocol page has a short, complete example to start from.
