Who writes the standard, and who tests it

For several protocols the body that publishes the standard is not the one that tests or certifies products against it.

IEC 61850

IECUCAIug

IEC Technical Committee 57 writes the standard, with experts nominated by national committees. UCAIug is the user community: it hosts the 61850 user group and organizes the interoperability (IOP) testing events.

BACnet

ASHRAEBACnet International

ASHRAE publishes the standard through its BACnet Committee, SSPC 135. BACnet International promotes it and runs BTL testing, certification and the PlugFest.

DNP3

IEEE SADNP-UG

IEEE SA publishes DNP3 as IEEE 1815. The DNP Users Group keeps the member document library and runs conformance testing.

IEEE 2030.5

IEEE SASunSpec Alliance

IEEE SA publishes IEEE 2030.5. SunSpec Alliance certifies products against CSIP, the profile used with California utilities under Rule 21.

EtherNet/IP

ODVAIEC

ODVA maintains CIP and EtherNet/IP, licenses vendors and runs conformance testing and the PlugFest. IEC SC 65C carries the CIP networks in IEC 61158 and IEC 61784 as Communication Profile Family 2.

How this directory works

Sourced, dated and open to corrections

Every record is one entry in a JSON file in our website repository, checked against a schema on every build. Each answer that states a fact links the official page it came from. We distinguish unknown (we could not establish it),not published (the organization does not publish it) and not applicable.

Fees are checked by hand at the source and flagged for a re-check after 180 days. We never copy prices automatically: membership terms can have contractual weight, and an organization's own page is the only authority.

Spotted an outdated fee, a missing organization or a wrong answer? Open an issue or a pull request with the source, and we review it before it is published.
