OT Fabric's notes

What stands out

LF Energy is mostly the opposite of a protocol standards body: its projects are software, and everything it hosts is free to use and contribute to. The SIGs, including Edge Interoperability and Flexibility, are open to anyone.

Several projects on our ecosystem map live here: EVerest and CitrineOS for OCPP, and OpenLEADR for OpenADR. They are independent of the organizations that publish those protocols, which is exactly why this directory separates standards publishers from open-source foundations.

Paid membership buys governance, not access. General membership starts at $10,000 (or $5,000 for existing Linux Foundation members) and makes a company eligible for the Governing Board; Associate membership is free for open-source projects, non-profits and research bodies, with board approval.
