Certification and interoperability

OT Fabric's notes

What stands out

OCA is one of the most open organizations in this directory. The specifications are free for everyone, plugfests welcome the whole industry, certification is open to every company with an OCPP implementation, and the Starter edition of the compliance test tool is free.

Influence over the specification is a different matter: the Technical and Compliance working groups are for members. The cheapest way in is Individual membership at €297 a year; companies pay from €990 by revenue band.

The price gap that matters most for small vendors is the test tool. OCTT Professional costs €7,900 a year for Adopter and Implementer members and €17,900 for everyone else, which on its own can justify a membership.
